Here is a video of our first eagle release of 2019. This bald eagle was brought in on Dec 1st with a badly fractured wing and the prognosis was not good. Less than a 50/50 chance to ever be released back into the wild. The caller and homeowner did a great job assisting one of our rescuers to capture this eagle who wanted no part of being brought in for a long stay at The Wildlife Center of Venice. While our volunteers always look forward to releasing animals back into the wild, we were a bit nervous at this release due to the severity of the injury. This guy had passed several flight tests “with flying colors” (sorry…) and showed us no reason that he was not ready to be released back into the wild. Very cool to witness him prove to us that that he was indeed ready to head back home.
