Hurricane Irma update

Irma who???

We at the Wildlife Center of Venice are hopeful that all of our supporters and their families made it safely through Hurricane Irma. The Center sustained some minor damage and some flooding, but we are still fully operational. The day after hurricane Irma, we lost power but we still took in over 130 new patients, which is well over ten times our usual workload and our biggest intake day in WCV’s history.  The second day looks to be almost as busy but the power finally did come back on.

Many of our volunteers are onsite helping, but many are still out of town. If you have ever considered becoming part of our volunteer team, now would be the perfect time.  We could use your help working onsite, collecting and dropping off supplies or transporting animals to the center to help us clear this hurdle.  Our most urgent needs are: Unflavored Pedialyte, KMR (kitten milk replacer), Esbiliac (puppy milk replacer), Exact (or other baby parrot formula), dog and cat food (dry or caned), wild bird seed and bedding (washcloths, newspaper, bed sheets, blankets or pillowcases).  If you are able to help, please call the center at (941) 484-9657 or pay us a visit at 3252 Border Road in Venice.

Speaking of hurdles, we are proud to announce that we have secured the money for the down payment on our new property and we will be moving soon. We could not have done it without your donations. Although this is a fantastic milestone, we still have a quite a ways to go to get settled in our new home and hopeful that we can keep the momentum going. Thank you for all of the support!!!

Please visit our website’s donation page or our GoFundMe page at the link below if you are kind enough to help us help our amazing Florida wildlife.
